Yes, but not like a dog. Here is what my latest guinea pig can do, and how it happened:

It rings a bell when hungry: Every time I fed it for months, I rang a small bell hanging from the top of the cage.

I knows its name (baby rex): Every time I picked it up or fed it, I called it by name. Now it will come to me by name if in the same room.

Roll over on its back while held: This one was the hardest. I imitated "happy" purrring noises while holding it and gradually attempted rolling him over. When he rolled onto his back, I would rub his belly. It took nearly 18 months, but eventually, he would roll over onto his back and go to sleep in my hands.

The bottom line is that they are not command-driven in general. They are action/response driven. If they see the same thing repeatedly, they will eventually mimic previous responses. Through repetition they can certainly be trained to perform very basic responses.

Good luck. If your pig is tame and desires to be held, that's 90% of what's important.

you can if you try hard enough, but you have to start when they are fairly young--it's like the saying goes, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks"; the same goes for any animal, once they are set in their so-called "ways" then it's uber hard to teach them anything

Not really. Maybe a little, to come when you have food or something. They were originally raised to be food, so they aren't that bright.
