You ever notice how everybody will just drive around and around a parking lot to get the closest parking spot they can find? Then when they get inside they will stay forever walking around and around the store. Then they walk from register to register until they think they have a line that will not take too long so they can get back to their car which is right at the front door.

Part of it is a need for instant gratification (don't want to have to walk too far to get to those goodies; don't want to have to wait to pay for them), and a good part of it is just plain laziness. As a society, we seem to all be looking for a shortcut.

It all depends , if I can trust my knee not to buckle I park way back. If not i take a handicapped spot as i have the placard. But if it's at a big store I park away, If I'm going to walk all over the store i better be able to walk a ways to the door.

Good question. The reason why I look for a close parking spot is because I own a new 2005 ford mustang and I don't want no one to mess with it plus there is cameras watching the parking spots.

I like to park near the door so I can check out women's butts while my daughter is inside doing whatever teenage girls do in stores.

I want to be closer to the door also. Quicker to get in and catch the sales and quicker to get to when be chased or stalked by a robber

I enjoy the excercise and park in the north 40. my husband use to do that, now he parks in the north 40 to.

I KNOW! lol Im a people watcher and people really do the strangest things dont they? Its fascinating to me! But my dad use to do that! Drove my mom crazy! He would take 20 minutes looking for the perfect spot just to be close BUT spend all day in the store walking around only to search out the shortest line to check out! I found its alot easier and FASTER just to park- get what u go for and run like crazy when u r done! lol Kinda like people who order this huge Biggie Size meal at McDonalds and order a diet coke! My sister does that! Its like Geeze u just scarfed down 2000 calories I dont think a real pepsi will hurt u at all!

I guess it eliminates some of the walking. I try to park close to the door as well.
