Boy have I been in your shoes. It is really hard to quit and I have tried many different ways. First though you must really want to quit. After you are completely ready to quit then try. I tried patches and that didn't work. I also tried the Smoke Away pills and they didn't work. Finally I went about two months ago and got hypnotized. That did it. I have been smoke free ever since. the place that did it is a non profit organization that travels around the country. You can visit their website at www.newlifeclinics.org. That should tell you if they will be coming near you or you can get the Cd's and do it yourself. that was the best method for me cause I have quit and never given it a second thought. You can try the others if you want though they may work for you.

You don't say how long you smoked. Cold turkey is about the best, I think. And yes it is hard. Very hard. But it can be done and once you get through a week, you will start to feel a little better about it. My friend swears by wellbutrin which is a presciption that you can get that helps calm you. I don't know. But just remember each day you get through is another day on your side. Chew lots of gum and eat licorce. It helps to keep something in your mouth like chewing on ice and keep yourself busy. When you get stressed and would smoke, now you have to replace it with something else. Call someone on the phone or go talk to someone. Good luck!

Wellburitin it is an anti depressant that has a 60% sucess rate for quiting smoking. I tried it and have quit without a problem except a few very minor urges. I smoked for 35 years. You start taking 1 pill a day (they make you feel great by the way) and set a quit date mine was for three weeks later than you just stop! It works and is great ask your Dr. to prescribe it.
By the way it is also sucessful to stope the craving of methampetamines and several other addictions! Feel free to e mail me and let me know how you are doing!

it took me one year to quit smoking after five years of going through a carton a week.
my method was trying to quit cold turkey about 100 times and finally succeeding.
it takes all the willpower you have and a lot of sunflower seeds.
good luck and remember, even if you are only trying to quit, it is in the long run less smoke.

I tried to quit on 1-1-06 and my husband did at the same time, BAD IDEA we almost killed each other. So I started again then I quit on my own cold turkey on 2-27-06.I know this sounds crazy but my grandpa looked it up in the farmers almanac and said "the signs said it would be a good time to quit with less withdrawls" It really worked I had way less cravings mabey it was in my head but it worked. Also sunflower seeds and pretzel sticks helped to occupy my mouth GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

I quit on Welbrutin but i started again after the birth of my baby girl. I think it was hormonal but who knows. When I go back to the doctor I'm asking him to put me on it again because it really help me get sick of them. You really have to want to quit to succeed. My voice was changing and that was bothering me and I was getting sick to my stomach with them. I found out later that peppermint helps the craving. Chew gum and on straws, toothpick and i even found myself chewing on anything i could get my hands on. No one ever said it was easy. You do have to rid yourself of ashtrays and other people that smoke it makes a difference. Oh also I found shelled sunflower seeds helped too. good luck.

It is harder to quit than Opium or Cocaine. Go to Nicotine at wikiopedia and read the information I quit that day. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicotine go there that should do the trick. Good luck
