First of all, dont pack your favorite jeans that youre dying to fit into again! Pack a maternity oufit or loose clothes for you to go home in, a robe to wear at the hospital, and duh...PADS. Oh yea, bring some advil (or whatever you took for PMS before).
For the baby, a premie-sized or newborn sized outfit, a receiving blanket, a infant car seat, and whatever your local weather demands as far as a heavier baby blanket. A little hat, little mittens, and little booties are good ideas too.
Depending on your vanity, remember whatever makeup/hair stuff you will want. There are usually plenty of pictures taken, and YOU will be in them too.
And dont forget the camera!

you need to pack the basics. you need a change of clothes so that when you leave the hospital you can leave fresh. you also need 1 night gown and 1 bedtime slipper. and most importantly you need the leaving the hospital baby outfit. you want him to leave in style. dont worry about baby necessities, the hospital provides everything for the baby even enough to last for 1 week or maybe 2. congratulations on your soon to be newborn.

I packed my bag at 35 weeks. I went into labor at 36 weeks! I recommend you bring at least 3 pairs of underwear-- they will give you "disposable" gauzy-type undies, but they sometimes don't stay up on their own! I wore my own underwear over the disposable ones... remember, you will have on a BIG sanitary pad, and an ice pack (for 24 hrs).
I also brought two nightgowns, a robe, brush, ponytail holders, three pairs of socks, chapstick, deodorant, toothbrush/paste, a sportsbra (if you are nursing, a nursing bra), a pair of sweatpants/t shirt for going home, a camera, and a pillow.
For baby: a blanket, a baby t-shirt, picture taking outfit, and carseat.
Good Luck!

-flip-flops or slippers in case you need to walk around.
-change of clothes for taking baby home day!! your size is usually around what you were at 5 months (i just wore a paire of track pants and a t-shirt)
-don't worry about nightgowns. wear hospital gowns b/c yours will just get all bloody and messy! oh, and they will give you lots of pads for afterwards and these funky panty things. i used them all up b/c afterwards you bleed quite a bit.
-if you are getting an epidural, then playing cards, magazines, book
-some hard candies or lolipops, usually you don't get to eat, but sometimes they let you have hard candy
-an outfit for baby to go home in and blankets
-toothbrush, shampoo, soap, any toiletries you may need for showers and brushing teeth, etc.
-chapstick -- my lips got chapped for some reason
-change for vending machines
-cell phone and charger to call everyone! or else a calling card.
-nursing bras, if you're going to nurse. if not, then a tight sports bra.
that's about all i can think of. you don't need much, really. just make sure have space in your bag, or take an extra bag for all the stuff you get to take home! you will have so much stuff from the hospital, it's crazy!
oh, and ask them to explain the menus to you. i didn't realize i could order lots of stuff so my husband and i could both eat. he lived off vending machines and went to mcdonald's a few times, poor thing.
take care and have a nice time!

Clothes to change into while staying in the hospital(the gown is NOT comfortable), clothes to go home in, clothes for the baby to go home in, the car seat, camera/video camera, shower stuff, something to do while you "wait"/something to do while your husband waits, snacks for after delievery (you can't eat until afterwards and hospital food sucks). And if you take anything that has batteries make sure they have new ones in it or take extras! I hope this list helped. Good luck!

Ha i didn't pack anything... of course when I went in to the hospital i wasn't planning on having my baby right there and then... You should take slippers, comfortable pajamas... Oh and if the hospital allows it... take your own sanitary pads and underwear... the ones they have their are huge and their underwear are weird... you will be better off taking your own... You will be bleeding alot after you give birth naturally oh and of course CAR SEAT and whatever you want baby to take his/her first pix. in and go home in,

Pack lotions, a light scent, hair products, makeup bag so that you can look and feel fresh. Pack yourself a pretty gown and robe. Get something new if you can so that you will feel pretty. Get a manicure and pedicure if you can before you go. You will be glad that you did. Your toes will look so cute. Pack magazines or a book to read in spare time, if you get spare time. Ha Ha
Good Luck!

Take a couple of nightgowns for yourself, a magazine, toothbrush, all toiletries that you might need, and additional undergarments.
Take some diapers, baby clothes, pacifiers, and baby lotion for your baby. They will not let you leave the hospital without a carseat, just so you know.

Toothbrushes for you and dad, change of clothes to go home in, a robe and comfy slippers or thick socks, your favorite shampoo and conditioner, a phone list of all the people you want to call, a calling card for those people that are long distance (we ran our cell phone way over minutes calling family, cheaper to call on a card than pay overage), your favorite packaged snack (chips or whatever, something to do (books or magazines.).
