Yes, it was 10 times better last year. You are right about them focusing so much on a guess annoucer than the game. Of the three of them, the black guy is the only one I like to hear talk. I don't know his name. All the other two can do is bicker back and forth with each. Joe Theisman thinks he is the only man who knows anything about football. I would rather hear Al Michaels or Troy Aikman or somebody. I much prefer Sunday night football with John Madden and Al Michaels.

Last season was a lot better than this season for a lot of reasons. One, which is my favorite reason, is this: Who wants to listen to Joe Theisman talk about himself or compare himself to the the two quarterbacks playing that night? Not me. He is a sorry announcer. Two, moving it to ESPN wasn't such a great idea. It keeps a lot of viewers who don't have ESPN or cable from being able to see the game. It also seems like they try to spice it up way to much by having PTI Monday Night Edition, SportsCenter Monday Night Edition, and Monday Night Countdown all lined up 90 minutes before the game. I mean what if people ACTUALLY wanted to check up on a different sport, we have to look at the ticker at the bottom and everytime it gets close to what WE want, they go to commercial. They devote all that time to this one game like it's a Super Bowl every Monday night. They breakdown every single thing that could even resemble a stat before the game over and over. I love football, but I don't love all the hype. Atleast not in the regular season for that matter. Three, the announcers need to keep it to the game and not to all of these side notes about stupid stats or facts that we could really care less about. Stick to the game and the physical part of it not the mental part. I want to hear stats about the game on now not the game played last year or 10 years ago. I definently don't want to hear about how the game was when Joe "Heismen" Theisman played or how mentally tough he had to be as a QB. Come on people, broadcast the game not the sponsorships or your personal view, just the hard hits and the picture-perfect TD catches late in the 4th Quarter. Monday Night Football was A LOT better last year.

-ESPN is trying to get ratings up so that more people will watch games on cable. With that being said, they are trying new and inventive things to see what works and what doesnt work. Like Bill Simmons said last week, everyones trying to be like Madden and Micheals. No smash to how they do things, but Micheals and Madden have beaten the bush. They were good last year, and pretty good this year, but lets see someone new.

-With some really good games this year on Monday Night Football (Chicago-Arizona; New England-Minnesota; Seattle-Green Bay) ESPN tried to get the best combination. With Trico (play-by-play), Thiesman (player turned commentator with his perspective on things), and Kornhieser (comic in the booth, who knows his sports). ESPN isnt there yet. They still need to figure out what thier audience thinks about this combination. Will there be a change next year? I really dont know.

-To answer your question, i think so. Last year Micheals and Madden were stale, but this year Trico-Thiesman-Kornhieser are alright, but not superb. Its better this year because there have been some really good games to watch. They should definately focus more on the game, because thats why we tune into watch. Do we want to know more about what Stallone says about his upcoming Rocky movie? I dont think so. I think we want to see more of the game.

I think it was better last year. I do see what they are trying to do though. They are trying to make that new guy(cant spell his name) Korn-something to be like Howard Cossell. For the die hard fan like me its annoying, because he take focus off of the game and whats happening right at that time, and shifts it to other things. He asks Joe(cant spell his name either!) Redskins ex-QB too many questions. The only one on the MNF crew I like is Mike(once again cant spell his name) the one on the left. He is matter of fact and keeps the other 2 on the game as much as possible. I really didn't like Dennis Miller on MNF either though, that was a disaster.

Yes it was and yes they should. That's why my husband and I have been watching Sunday nite football with Al Michaels and John Madden. They are awesome announcers and make watching the game enjoyable. We still watch Monday night, but its just so-so.
