My birth certificate still has a blank on it. (need to have that fixed) I am sure that social services will probably try to get a name out of you, but you dont have to. If later on down the road you meet someone who wants to marry you and be the father figure of your baby you will just have to petition the court for an adoption and a public notice will be put out that any man who believes he may be the father of a baby born on (whatever date) has so many days to object. If the father isnt insisting that his name be put on there i don't believe it has to.

I Know In California You Don't Have To Put The Father's Name If You Are Not Married.

In Fact the Father Has To Sign A Declaration Of Paternity If He Wants To Be Put On The Birth Certificate

well if the father is present at the birth then you can put the name on the bc. if not it can just be yourself. at a later date if the father wishes to be a part of the baby's life and you do the entire paternaty test through the court (has to be done in most states now adays) then the father can have the name on the certificate. i would go to the local courthouse to get more information. good luck!

You do not have to put the name of the father, although it may be beneficial to have this information later in life, ie for child support, if your child has any illnesses during its life it would be helpful for the child to contact the family to find out any health issues if he needs a transplant of some kind, etc.

I believe it can be added at a later time, but you may have to fill out alot of paperwork and pay fees to do that. It would just be all well and good to include the information of the father, because of some of the reasons stated above. Its not about emotions or feelings, its about having that information if needed later in life.

In order for you to collect child support he needs to be on birth certificate, but the hospital should ask you nothing personal like that and they can't make you put him on it. Yes you can put him up there later you just have to get him sign acknowledgment of paternity paper that you will get from the hosiptal and send that along with the application for birth certificate.

If this man is the father then his name should be on that certificate unless you do not know who the real father is. If he is the father and agrees, then there should not be a question of whether is name should be on the certificate or not.

The father must accept paternity (whether it be mandated by courts or voluntarily) before you will be allowed to put him on the birth certificate, if he doesn't sign, that part will be left blank.

no you dont have to put the fathers name on the cert. as far as an explaination...its none of their business...if they ask just tell them you dont know who the fther is and leave it at that...even if you do know who the father is. yes, later on you can change it. But it will require a paternity test i think.
