BEWARE OF DRINKING THE WATER!!
Punta Cana is beautiful and when I went on my honeymoon I had a great time!!! Our resort was amazing. Beware of the taxi services though, the rules of the roads there are different, i found it better if i didn't watch out the front of the van when were travelling!
Make sure you don't drink the water
and don't put ice in your drinks--only have bottled water...we did get sick from the water!! (Bring anti-diarrheal medicine in case!!)
Have fun though! Hopefully your flight won't be too long! Bring something to read and make sure you enjoy the beautiful beaches!
Also, just to warn you, the beaches are often filled with topless sunbathers, we were taken by surprise!
Most of those visiting were from Germany too, we only met a few other English speaking visitors.
The link below will give you some more tips on how to stay well..

I love Punta Cana. Porte Plata not as nice but a great place to party your *** off. Back to PC
Depending on where you are coming from make sure that you wear something you can get off in a hurry in public cause when you get off the plane the heat and humidity will hit you like a rock. You will need to strip very soon after landing. Depending on which resort you are at you will have a very bumpy long ride to your resort. The beaches are great there the people are wonderful. I always like to go the Dollar store and buy the local kids pencils and toys and crayons soaps toothbrushes and paste toy cars and dolls they just love to get these things. And I love giving them. Depending on where you are thing can be expensive. So bring all you tanning lotions and Tylenol all kinds of meds. Also even though you may be going to an all inclusive it is nice to bring some tip money with you. They make such a very little. Get your hair braided by the local girls. Go swimming with the sharks and sting rays that is fun. Oh and bring your own floaty blow up lounger thing as they are few and far between. Also you may want to bring your own snorkeling gear as the ones they have are not the best. You can buy bathing suits there at pretty reasonable prices. Put all your dollar store things in one suit case and use it to bring your souvenirs home. Oh and also when you pack it is a good idea to pack half yours and half your hubby's stuff in one suit case that way if one suitcase is lost you will still have some clothes each. Also put something on your suitcases so that you will recognize yours if it is a black suitcase like a big purple ribbon. You would be surprised at how many black suitcases there r and how many people grab the wrong ones. I have one of a kind type so no one will take them.... Hope you have a wonderful trip I am trying Jamaica over Christmas it will be my first time there. My husband says we have to try them all but DR is still one of the best if not the best.

I suggest you relax and enjoy. Airplanes are the safest way to travel. Make sure you drink lots of water, as air travel dries out your system.
It's a beautiful place. You'll have the best time of your life. Honestly.
If you want to spend a relaxing day on the beach, take a taxi to Cabarete. Better still, book your hotel there, right on the beach.

Beautiful. My dad loves it over there. Theres turquoise beaches, white sand, miles of palm trees, weather is terrific. I wish I was going. And flying is not that bad. My moms a flight attendant. Chew gum and bring earplugs, to reduce the chances of jet lag and your ear popping.
