No.

The prerequisite for TRUE happiness is having a relationship with God and finding the purpose for your life, through that spiritual relationship.

You can be self determined, financially stable, have job security, a spouse, children, nice cars and all the above, but if you don't have your center and mind right spiritually, something will always feel like it is missing!

No it is not.
At least if you use the word in its proper sense, as the ability to make your own decisions.

I know quite a few nuns and monks who have sworn to be obedient to their superiors at all times, and still seem perfectly happy to me.
You could argue that their decision to join an order was an act of self determination, but another example is the family of a down-syndrome child, who have grown to be happy with a situation that is certainly not of their chosing.

And how many people are around who can do whatever they want at any time, and still they are far from happy, or even content.
I think happiness is in the mind, not in the circumstances, and actually solely depends on your expectations.

Yes and No.
If you are self determined to achieve something materialistic (such as money, power, fame and any kind of success), then you will be soon disappointed, since you will never be satisfied with what you have, you will always seek more and more.

But if you are determined to be satisfied with what you already have, and that you put into your mind that nothing will disturb your happiness, then no matter what will happen to you, you will be always happy.

To reach this situation, you need a lot of experience to acquire self discipline and practice yourself to remain happy no matter what nature will give you.

Yes.

"Examples," she says. Writing a paper are we?

Okay, I'm pretty sure Bill Gates is happy. I'm also pretty sure Oprah Winfrey is happy. Surely you can infer why.
