Depends on what circle you run in. For me, no.

Last year in the United States more money was spent on cocaine than all other drugs combined. Popular, yes. Socially acceptable, probably not. It has a terribly bad image, but in reality it is not as bad as people think. Tobacco is where the real problem lies....

It seems that way, although I hope not. I really have very little against drugs, but coke is an obvious dollar trap. It wears off in 30-45 minutes (or seconds if you freebase) and then its time to cash in again. Your teeth rot out and your skin breaks out. You become needy or paranoid... The buzz feels good, but I certainly wouldn't make a hobby out of it!

Weed is wayyyyyy more socially acceptable (probably because it won't destroy your life unless you make it do so- not let it, MAKE it). I often wonder why it isn't more acceptable than alcohol. Alcohol makes people sweaty and obnoxious- sometimes even voilent. Weed just makes people stupid and talkative.

I agree with cleverpostgrads comment. It all depends on who you hang around with. I don't find it acceptable. Have you ever had to talk to someone coked to the gills? It's not enjoyable. Some of the nicest people you know become the most arrogant, self absorbed d***heads imaginable.
Every time someone buys illegal drugs, they line the pockets of some of the most horrible people in the world. Thats not socially acceptable. If someone wants to move to amsterdam and smoke all the pot they want then its their choice and their body and health. None of my business.

On the contrary cocaine is socially unacceptable along with any other illegal drugs. Proof is that you never hear cocaine users bragging about it -instead they hide it ,which shows its social status.

No. Those poor girls who were murdered in Suffolk were crack cocaine addicts and did what they did to pay dealers for their drugs. It is behind much of what's wrong with the UK today. Importers and dealers should be hunted down by special police units and given whole of life sentences when convicted.

Never. Ask those who have been affected by cocaine addicts robbing, theiving, and lying all the way to the dealer. If it ever is socially acceptable, god help us all.

I know where you're coming from here.

If sportsfolk want 'social' drugs to be excluded from the banned list, then the buggers must expect to be arrested, because these drugs are still illegal.

And, yep, coke is regarded as a social drug if it's used by people who attend glittery parties, but it's a blight on society if it's used by yobbos in council estates.

It seems to be in London and among the z list so called celebrities, police officers, judges, politicians etc but of course if a normal person is caught taking it they go to prison but any of the above get knighted, become chief constables and carry on murdering innocent civilians and of course become prime minister it all depends on where you live.

In some ways but not in others. It has lost common popularity since the 90's but is still used just as much. People are starting to think its "not that bad drug" unlike heroin.

If you fall into the wrong crowd, then anything seems socially acceptable.
