Partially hydrogenated oil has been the cause of deaths for many years. Since the food and drug admin came out with the results from their three year study and found that same is not healthy by any means, all big business has to get rid of it before they get sued like the cigarette companies.

Trans fats promote free radicals in the body which promotes cancer. Cutting trans fats will give people a false sense of "healthiness". Fried chicken is still fried chicken in grease no matter what type of grease it is fried in. Potato chips are still empty calories no matter what they are made in. This is an attempt to more to a safer oil for the body. This will not create knowledgeable consumers. Cooking oil is "safe" to go after and ban, cigarettes however, are not. Go figure.

Well trans fats have been shown to lead to heart attacks, so supposedly cutting them out will prevent heart disease. I also may change the taste for the worst. I am against legislating this though. People should be allowed to eat what they chose whether wise or foolish.
