We had a 240 pound Easter bunny and a 240 pound tooth fairy and a 240 pound Santa.... guess what my dad weight was??
We were told it was all in fun--it is SAAAAD to hear kids who are 8 and 9 arguing about if he is real and one family really made me mad giving a moving speech in a group of adults and children about how santa is real leaving me to either go along with it to the kids or point out that they were liars.
They were liars. And I made sure as soon as we hit the car that my kids knew the truth--those people thought it was a good thing to persist in a lie even when the kids had caught on to the deception.

The year that my mom left us, my dad had to work late so we were staying with my grandparents for the extra few hours. When we got home Santa had already been there. For some reason, I got the bike that was hidden in our tool shed that I thought was going to be from my mom, because she let me pick it out at Wal-Mart right after my birthday in October. My dad had to explain to me on the same day that there was no Santa and that my mom had chosen to not come back any more. Years later my dad told us that he was tied up in court, he was trying to get custody of my brother and me, but my mom didn't even show up to fight for us.

Well every year "Santa" brings our stalkings up and places them on our beds, and one year I saw my dad brining it up to my bed, and i nevr told him. I also figured this out when I saw a big pile of presents in the basement that were labled From Santa, and that was like a month before xmas so that is how ifigured out.
