I don't think so. They require an equal amount of emotional energy.

Why did I get a "thumbs down" for this? Are you afraid I might be right?

I would say no. Hate is such a strong word and I think it takes so much more energy to hate than to love. This isn't a easy answer and I hope I word this correctly. If not, forgive me.
I think we can love people in general without knowing them intimately because of the way we are raised. We are taught to love mankind and to treat each other with respect. But if we hate someone, then the trust was broken in that relationship at some point and those emotions eat at you and suck you dry. If this is the case, then too much effort and energy is used into keeping that hate alive. Now, when we love.... it just happens, effortlessly. Loving is definitely easier and it feels better too.

Sure. Love is the highest form of trust, and that's hard to come by. The violation of that trust produces emotions ranging from irritation to pure hatred. So depending on where you put hate on the scale, you will probably feel that emotion a lot oftener than love, unless you are equating "love" to "like." in which case it could be a standoff.

They both require a lot of emotion. You can do both the same. Some people may do it easier than others. Some people have trouble hating and some people have trouble loving. It is an individual thing as everything. I prefer love myself but sometimes when angry we all hate. It is just an individual thing.

hate seems to be a product of the mind - which is a stupid a s s machine at best - so hate is an automatic behavior requering no effort and as easy as pie to do in the world.

Love? - i have no idea what that is so i cannot comment on that.

It's hard to tell which burns the most calories; I would rather think that love and pity and caring are much more productive of good things than is hate or greed or narcissism.

Hate is much easier than love, because you can always find something you don't like about someone, and it is easy to see faults. To love someone, you have to love them in spite of their faults and deficiencies, and forgive them for their shortcomings, or for the times they have hurt or insulted you. Just remember this: the opposite of love isn't hate, it's apathy.

that's very subjective i guess... much depends on your situations when you grew up... and how you reacted to them or what kind of effects they had on you... also depends on your spiritual evolution (not necessarily out of books) but even intuitionally...
i guess it just depends on what happened with you in life... how you recieved it... and where you stand

a budhist raised in tibet might find it difficult to hate someone.. whereas a nazi would find it difficult to love someone... but ofcorse there can be contradictions... more than anything i think it depends on your spiritual consciousness and nature... jesus will find it impossible to hate someone... n you know hitler...

but yea, the dark side comes about quite naturally... but you need some effort and conscience to be the light...

I think it's about the same. And the more you love someone, the easier it is to hate them also. Gotta love that thin line between love and hate.

Absolutley. Hate is an emotional responese to someone that can be instantaneous. It takes time to gain the trust and caring required to love someone.
