Two socialites find their view of the world changed when a young man takes advantage of their preconceptions in this thoughtful comedy-drama. Flan and Ouisa Kittredge (Donald Sutherland and Stockard Channing) are a married couple who have built highly successful careers as art dealers catering to Manhattan's upper crust. The Kittredges are entertaining friends one evening when a young black man named Paul (Will Smith) appears at their door. Paul says that he's a close friend of their children, with whom he attended boarding school, and he's just been mugged and needs to get off the street for a moment. Flan and Ouisa invite him in, and they are immediately taken by Paul's intelligence and charm; he offers to prepare dinner, regales them with stories about his father, Sidney Poitier, and ends up spending the night at their apartment. However, the next morning Flan and Ouisa discover that they've been had; Paul is actually a con artist from the streets who has been pulling the wool over the eyes of many of their friends -- and his actions are beginning to have serious consequences.

Why don't you go and rent the movie or read the book. The summary of it is how some young black man fooled people in to thinking that he was the son of Sidney Poitier (the actor). He some kind of wild stories and some of his stuff seemed factual. But it turned out that he was some gay con artist. Because Sidney doesn't have any sons. And he fooled these high society New Yorkers for days even living in their home and had them buying him stuff.

SIx Degree is also known as the kevin Bacon game.

basically, you are no more than six people away from knowing ANYONE on this planet (sometimes less)

To wit: I can connect with Buster Keaton (even though he's been dead for 40 years).

I know Michael McShane
He was in a movie with Sean Connery
Sean was directed by Richard Lester
he directed Buster Keaton

Six degrees of separation refers to the idea that human beings are connected through relationships with at most six other people. Several studies, such as Milgram's small world experiment have been conducted to empirically measure this connectedness. While the exact number of links between people differs depending on the population measured, it is generally found to be relatively small. Hence, six degrees of separation is somewhat synonymous with the idea of the "small world"

Will Smith plays a con artist, who claims he is the son of Sidney Poitier. He is befriended by Stockard Channing...and he moves into her home and basically scams her. He has a friend who knows he is a con artist and he hits on him...he is homosexual as well. It is a pretty decent movie...google it and you can get a really good synopsis
