Because it has helped to realize how much racism and hostility for other beliefs is still in our lives, among us... that's how I see it. We should try to embrace our differences and not try to destroy someone that it's not like you.

Maybe the effect has been to create a dialog (not always a good one, but...)

IMO - it has not had that much of an effect. Like every other group - they are just a bunch of people with opinions.
