After WWI, the soldiers returned tired, hungry, and unable to clean...

After WWII, the same thing happened, but ten fold...

Joking aside, the way our society has been developed has affected gender roles in households. Men do the manual labor, yard work, mechanical chores. Women do the cooking, cleaning, laundry. It's what people are used to. However, as more and more women have entered the workforce, the responsibilties have shifted. I cook and clean and even help out with my girlfriends laundry. I tidy up her apartment without her asking sometimes and believe that if you make a mess, it is your responsibility to clean it up. I really think that this idea is changing as women are leaving the household. Try reading "More Work for Mother" by Ruth Schwartz Cohen.

Most men if asked will tell you they dont consider it women's work to clean but what you have to understand is that men have a higher tolerance for messes than women do therefore women will usually start cleaning up a house, room or apartment about a week or so b4 a man would clean the same domicile

Do men always assume it's womens work ?. I know plenty of slobby grubby women and very tidy and clean men. It's all down to the parenting.

because they think they are superior and they rule, the ones that think like that are just totally wrong.....both women and men should do the cleaning, unless the men works the whole day and the women stays at home, but cleaning anybody can do it unless they are lazy or had a problem or something!!!

Of course it's the women's job...just like mowing the lawn is the man's job or racking the leaves or fixing the towlet, back porch, roof, sink, garbage desposal, car.

I do share the dishes with my wife...when I have to carry bundles of shingles up on the roof she is nowhere to be found :)

I'm a man, and do lots of cleaning.

We are all equal aren't we.

Sometimes the women works all day, so why should she do all the cleaning as well! Lets share the load, and work together.

We don't assume, we know (and so do you) that IT IS woman's work. Besides, it's a privilege for you to clean up after us, we make all the money, so you can do a little something for us when we come home. Lol.

This is because they are ignorant of the fact that women were created to help them do those things. It is not the work of the woman. She is just a helper. I have Biblical proof in Genesis. This is a problem in Africa.

Try this one, men reckon women have smaller feet so that we can stand nearer to the kitchen sink to wash dishes!!! NOOOOOOOO. Most men are taller & have longer legs than us women. Why? so they can get to the sink first!!!!!!!! If that arguement fails then try going on strike!!!!!!

because years ago people discriminated allot against peoples sex, age ect... and now we have laws against it. But the past sexist attitude still lingers. But I have to ask, when you need a light bulb changing or some heavy lifting ect. who do you ask?

I guess my point is that it does work both ways!
