Property prices rocketed in the last 5 years. (soared up to 400%) I'd say invest in property from 2008. They expect the property prices to spike ahead of the 2010 World Cup.

If you were going to GIVE me money to invest in South Africa, I might, but not my own money. Still, if I had to invest anywhere in Africa, South Africa would be very high on my very short short list. Folks need food is the only thing I can think of, except while an enormous share of the world's hungry live in Africa, so does the world's poor--and they are usually the same folks. Producing food when those who need it most cannot buy it has the ominous sense of government take-over and ruination of the 'goose that laid the golden egg'--see Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) for a superb illustration.
Invest in South Africa? Good luck. You will need luck least there than anywhere else in Africa, but you will still need it. Sorry.
