He was referring to the Saudi King/Dictator. Does he not see how badly he's contradicting himself when he allies himself with an absolute ruler? I mean he's trying to promote Democracy in the middle east, he's trying to fight tyranny, be here he goes allying himself with the Saudi King calling him an "ally on the war on terror" and "his friend".
Does anyone else see the hypocrisy here?

Some of you people are really stupid. Some of you will ***** and whine about Syria and Iran supporting the insurgency but the fact that the Saudis were indirectly responsible for 9/11 and the fact that the Saudis send finance to the Iraqi insurgency, well that's okay because Bush said so. Why don't you research Saudi Arabia's relations with Al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups (along with its long history of Dhimmitude and Anti-semitism) before making stupid comments like "If Bush is doing it, I'm sure he knows what he's doing" or "I trust Bush, just because I do." Wake up people and smell that oil.

You're kidding right? You do know that Al-Qaeda originated in Saudi Arabia and that 20 some odd years ago the royal family openly supported them as they blew up hotels and Israeli school children? You do know that whenever there is a new terrorist group in the middle east, 99% of the time you can trace it back to the Saudi King. Like I said, research it, you'll know alot more about Saudi Arabia and their link to just about every terrorist organization in the middle east.

I give up. Some of you are too blind to see it. You're too blind to see the facts and that Saudi Arabia (that's supported by good ol' Bush) is the greatest terrorist threat in the middle east & that Bush supports them.

The fact is they have a lot in common Bush is an oil man ..The Saudi king is an oil man..Bush sends Young Americans to be killed in Iraq.The Saudi king supports the Sunni insurgency to kill Young Americans!!

To Bush's support, he was right, the king is his and his father's old friend who have given him a lot of support and money in the past.
Ally on war on terror, that is right two since by using terror methods the Saudi's do try to quell domestic terror down, even though before 2001, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and UAE were the ONLY countries to recognize the Taliban gov't in Afghanistan,,, tlak about hypocracy.

We need Saudi Arabia. It is a allie agains terrorism in the midlle east. We need sometimes to befriend people we dont really like to get the job done. This is one of those times. saudi may not be our BEST friend in the middle east but they are our friend & we need them. So that is why GW called him " my friend the king". This doesn't answer your question and I do support President Bush but I get nervous when he starts calling people his "friend" It reminds me of his comment about looking in to Putin's eyes. I don't know maybe it's a bush thing. Remember why his dad lost? "read my lips, no new taxes" I think they maybe don't think before they speak. Jr. also said something in his speech that I am sure was a slip of the tongue about he will not be hurried when it comes to getting our troops the equipment they need. I certainly hope he didn't mean it that way.

It may seem to be hypocritical to you but it is all politics and I seriously doubt you were in the talks between the two of them. If you were you would probably not ask that question I am sure Bush knows what he is doing.

No. Foreign policy is a chess game. The saudi king isn't trusted any further than he can be thrown, but his cooporation would be a welcome gesture.
