their seems to be a very close relationship between atmospheric carbon dioxide and average earth temperatures. we need to raise the gas tax to stop this. i know its counterintuitive, but low gas tax is socialism, raise the gas tax, end the socialism of subsidized cheap gasoline.

Carbon Dioxide is a greenhouse gas, meaning it absorbs heat that is radiated from the earth's surface and prevents it from escaping into the upper atmosphere. With the combination of increased Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere due to the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation that is wiping out trees that normally convert carbon dioxide to oxygen, carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are increasing and the trees adn plant that we have left are not enough to take care of it all. So the theory is that as long as carbon dioxide levels are increasing, the global temperature will increase due to the greenhouse effect. Oh and both carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide are poisonous in certain concentrations, cabon monoxide is more so in smaller concentrations because it bonds more readily with our blood cells than oxygen. It takes a very high concentration of carbon dioxode to kill you and there basically has to be an absence or very low concentration of oxygen and a very high concentration of carbon dioxide for it to actually kill you.

It is the result of heat absorption by certain gases in the atmosphere (called greenhouse gases because they effectively 'trap' heat in the lower atmosphere) and re-radiation downward of some of that heat.
This is a normal process; however, the increase in carbon dioxide traps more heat and re-radiates it downward, thus increasing global surface temperatures.

Carbon dioxide or monoxide? Big difference... one's not poisonous one is.

too many pollution in the air causes it harder for the earth to breath I guess.
