Conrad -- Suggs is a DE, Ravens moved back to the 4-3.
Chargers are the only team that could edge them out. Merriman 12.5 sacks, tied for 1st place (plus he's a beastly all around player), Phillips 10.5 (tied for 5th) sacks (plus if Foley comes back healthy next year, I think Shaun will get to keep the startng job --foley's better at run D, but Phillips pass-rush is just too good), Donnie Edwards is the best coverage LB and the most underated player in the league (18 tackles! -why does AJ want this guy gone?!), and Godfrey is a great all around player who is always there to make plays when needed.
Plus, we have great back-up players who made it seem like no-one was gone against Cleveland (yea..but still...) (Steven Cooper, Matt Wilhelm, Carlos Polk, Marques Harris, and Tim "The Next Ray Lewis" Dobbins)

Gotta agree with Andy T on this one. The Chargers lead the league in sacks, that says something about your linebacking corps. I was impressed when their linebackers started dropping like flies and they were still winning, they are deep beyond belief at linebacker. I'd give the edge to the Chargers.

Yea. All four of the starting linebackers are pro bowl caliber. You can take one out, maybe two and they still bust heads. Chicago's linebacking corps starts with Urlacher and thats were it ends. Anytime you can take out someone like Ray Lewis and still get production from your linebackers, you've got yourself some gamers. The system is good, but so are the players.

yeah by far. ray lewis is probably the best linebacker in history, and certainly the scariest. he's such a great leader and motivator, he keeps everyone else performing at a top level. adalius thomas has been underrated, but not anymore, really performing well this year. terrell suggs is a great pass rusher, and really improving the rest of his game, gonna be a great one for years. they have great depth at linebacker

I'd say da Bears, mainly because of Urlacher of course, but also Lance Briggs is an absolute animal.
The Steelers are good too...Joey Porter, James Farrior, Larry Foote, Clark Haggans...all good ones

Da Bears have the best LB crew. they have Urlacher, and Briggs, who IMO hits harder then # 54. Hinenmieger (sp) isnt too bad either.
i would say the Pats have a great LB crew, and i would put the Ravens in 3rd.

Some would argue the Bears are better. But between the two of them.
