HEY, SOMETHING I REALLY KNOW ABOUT!!!

Ask someone who is FROM New Orleans what they think.

Ask why Governor Blanco refused George Bush's offer for help because she thought it was too much like martial law. He offered to bring National Guard troops in to rescue the people, but she refused.

Ask the THOUSANDS of white people in Lake Shore and Lake Vista who lost their houses. Many of them were also trapped when the waters began to rise.

Quit mouthin off about stuff you know NOTHING about.

Ask someone (me) who LOST THEIR HOUSE in the hurricane what they think about it.

***hole.

Wow - how did you get this amazing scoop? Do you have access? That is *so* impressive! /sarc

As to Katrina, where were the city and state officials? Why is it all the federal government's fault? If the mayor of New Orleans failed to recognize the scope of the disaster, and he was THERE, how could anyone who WASN'T there possibly understand the magnitude of what was happening? Didn't you see the picture of the school buses under water? Why weren't those buses used to evacuate the elderly and infirm? What about Gov. Blanco? What did SHE do? Besides whine about the lack of federal response, I don't think she did much of anything. What about the wide-spread reports of a "party atmosphere" in New Orleans leading up to Katrina? Don't the people who were capable of leaving, but chose not to, have any responsibility here? I mean, if you live in a city that was built below sea-level with old and poorly maintained levees, AND in the path of hurricanes, wouldn't you leave if a big one was bearing down on you?

"Powerful winds sent debris flying through the streets, blew windows out of high-rise hotels and tore through the roof of the Superdome where 26,000 people had taken refuge from the dangerous storm.

Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco said in a news conference the damage had caused leaks and evacuees had been moved to dry areas in the stadium, but there was no immediate danger. "

"New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin said on NBC's "Today Show" there was already "significant flooding" in the city, most of which lies below sea level.

"I've gotten reports this morning that there's already water coming over some of the levee systems," he said.

Weather experts have predicted that thousands of homes could be damaged or destroyed and a million people left homeless if the storm surge is too great for the levees to hold back.

Officials estimated that a million people had left the area ahead of the storm, which was previously a fearsome Category 5 with winds of 282 kph, but many chose to ride it out. It hit land as a Category 4 on the five-step Saffir-Simpson scale. "

I won't even bother getting into Iraq with you. Not worth the trouble.

I guess maybe you are... The Bush administration has more minorities holding top level positions than any other administration in the history of this country.. Katrina situation..... hm mm , I guess you forget that a natural disaster has to be handled first on the state level... So where was Mayor Ray Nagin ?

I have been living on the coast in the south east all my life I have seen a few storms . It always takes 3 to 5 days for help to get to you. Until then you are on your own. In New Orleans the problem was their own state and county government. Where was the Department if Emergency Management. They are the ones that must plan and tell the Feds where they are needed. The Feds and FEMA do not do any plans and never have. New Orleans and the County was to blame no one other.

Katrina wasn't a racist endevor, many whites died and struggled too, but for some reason, mostly african americans decided to stay instead of leave before the impending hurricane struck. Bush's job is far more complex than most people realize, and Iraq wasn't just some whim of a decision.
