HD and Xbox 360 go together like peas and carrots. If you are going to purchase an Xbox 360, you MUST have an HDTV for the full effect. I know from experience. I own an Xbox 360, but I do not have an HDTV; however, my buddy has both. I played "Gears of War" and "Far Cry" on both my TV and his, and the difference is phenomenal. If you can afford both, then buy both. If not, buy the Xbox 360 and get the HD TV later.

Not necessarily but an Xbox 360 isn't worth it without an HDTV.

Okay folks, I suggest you get your definitions and terms in order before you attempt to tell people what to get. In order to get true HDTV resolution on an HDTV capable display, such as LCD or Plasma, the video source needs to be encoded in HDTV format. Unless the video game is encoded in the higher 1024x760 hi def video format, having an HDTV won't do anything for you, but accentuate the low def video quality and result in a pixelated image. The same holds true for cable/satellite/dvd video that is encoded in standard definition, as it will suck in quality on an HDTV display.

Well, if you are upgrading anyway, get the HD. Otherwise, just for the 360 games, I would say no, because the graphics are still pretty clear.
