When Shakira sells half as many CDs as Madonna, then we can talk
When Shakira performs half as many sold out shows in the US as Madonna, then we can talk
When Shakira can hold up production on a movie so she can have the starring role like Madonna (Evita), then we can talk
When Shakira can open a broadway show like Madonna (Sew the Plow), then we can talk
I'm actually not a Madonna fan, but she must be recognized as the godess she is.

8) In the late 90s she created a foundation called Piez Descalzos Bare Feet which builds schools and homes for abandoned children of Colombia.....she speaks about the seperation of racial in tolerance between black and mestizo inhabitants of Colombia...all this BEFORE SHE WAS FAMOUS in the USA like she is today....
9) She is the youngest and most effective ambassador in Latin America and for UNICEF
10) She can speak about world issues and know from experience what she is talking about something Daddy Yankee or Raymound Ayala can't do...he can't even speak...what a loser...he has someone write his lyrics

Madonna has been in the spotlight for about 20 years now, and she definitely isn't going anywhere. And she puts on a really good show. Sets, dancers, singing, props, etc. But I really like Shakira's lyrics and music and beats. And she's got such a unique voice. So, I really can't say they are in the same league with each other, other than the fact that they both sing. I like them equally.
