Geez, her boss sounds like a bit of a stickler! Personally I think it's ridiculous that an adult needs a "note," bu anyway, I think your friend is going to have to go back to that hospital, and ask one of the nurses who cared for her relative to write it on hospital letterhead. Maybe she will get lucky and someone at the hospital will fax her a note saying she was there.

Alls she has to do is go back to the hospital and yes they will give her a hand written note stating she was there. UMMMMMM sure she can do it herslef BUT it has to be on HOSPITAL paper! They can always FAX her a note to herr boss's office so she doesnt have to drive back! Thank god for modern technology! But most places do that now- if u miss more than 2 days I require a doctors note too BUT it has to be on the Doctors letterhead paper or prescription pad. Good luck. But Iam sure they will fax her proof right to her boss's office just have her call them! Merry Xmas

Some places are going to require a note on hospital letterhead, or a prescription pad or something like that. Is it possible to call the hospital social worker, ask for her help in getting the note and have it faxed to either your friend or her boss? Good luck with this.

Tell her to request an exact idea of what her boss is asking her to show as proof. What about a parking stub or even a receipt to show that she was where she claimed to be...the handwritten note will just look cheesy and as she was not in the Hospital, only a visitor...she might need to come up with a better reason for taking time off in the future. If she were in my employ I would be looking for her replacement right about now.

I dont' think hospitals give out "little sally was at the doctors today" notes. They have no idea who comes and goes into patients rooms. The boss sounds a bit unsensitive, but he must have reasons to request this sort of thing. I have never heard of it before and I worked in personnel. She could ask the relative to write a letter stating that she was there.

she should be able to tell her boss to call the hospital and talk to the nurse that was on duty that day. That way her boss KNOWS its a real hospital and not just some person she knows, and then he should be willing to believe what the nurse says.
If he gives her too much of a problem, then he's just being a d!ck

If your friend has access to a fax, or email she can call the hospital explain her situation, and request that they send one to her. But if her boss is an a**h*** like that she should consider finding a new job asap!

I'll tell you what I'd do: I'd drop copies of the bills and medical reports on the boss's desk. That should do it.

she can call them and have them fax something to her work. thats pretty typical of an employer. but the hospital should have no problem faxing that to her work.
