I need to do an American History paper on either a biography, autobiography or analytical essay. Does anyone have any good suggestions of a book I should read? This book can not have been made into a movie by the way. Thanks for the help!

Carl Sandburg,

Abraham Lincoln, The War Years.

I also believe he has a one volume biography on Lincoln.

Also check the bios of Irving Stone. Quite a few notable peoplle and
quick, if sometimes long, reading.

Guilianni's Bio called Leadership is awesome. Its about his time as mayor of NYC and the events and pressure of dealing with 9/11.
Nelson Mandela's Bio called the Long Walk to Freedom is also an excellent choice about his imprisonment and rebellen against apatheid in South Africa.

Try it on a figure of less provanonce. Your teacher will no doubt hate reading 20+ papers on Washington and Lincoln. Try something off of the beaten path. I recommend studying the recipients of the Medal of Honor, the nations highest military award. You will find some interesting stories.
