One of two songs have been said to be the one played as Titanic sank... Is there anywhere to disprove or solidify the playing of either? These two songs have been listed as "Nearer My God To Thee" and "Autumn". I am uncertain of the author of either song, and am looking for any and all information possible on both. If anyone knows a place where I can hear either or both of these songs, lyrical and instrumental, I'd greatly appreciate the reference. Thank you.

I know that they played Alexander's Ragtime Band. That is what some of the surivors recalled that night. This link should explain what you're looking for.

Of course the only folks who really knew were the orchestra, and sadly none of them survived. The accounts differ because, "the last song" depends on when you left the ship. Most survivors got off in the first 1 - 1 1/2 hours IIRC. These folks seem to recall "Nearer My God to Thee". Others who somehow survived the actual submergence of the ship, said it was "Autumn". Both of whom have somewhat similar melodies.
Something I think we all need to keep in mind, was the incredible terror and chaos during those few hours. The last thing folks were concerned with, was what the Orchestra was playing. So, we'll never really know.

I don't think you will find an author for Nearer My God to Thee.. it is pretty much a traditional hymm like Amazing Grace.

Google it for the lyrics... same for Autumn info.

I will answer Nearer My God To Thee. The lyrics can be found in the hymnal book of The Church of the Nazarene as our attendees sing it often.
