I've been there, didn't like it very much. The scenery was beautiful, but there wasn't much to do, and the people were impolite and almost standoffish--and I'm a very friendly Texan!

What do you think of the people, culture, attractions, cities, scenery, etc.?

BTW, I've been all over the state--Louisville, Frankfort, Lexington, Newport, and from Fulton and Paducah in the far west to Prestonsburg in the far east.

I've been there plenty of times. Owensboro is a cool town, good BBQ, live music, lots of blues, pretty girls, what's not to love? Louisville has a nice museum.

I have been there and I really love the state. I think saying there isn't anything to do is a little bit of a misnomer. It depends on what you like to do. Being a kayaker, the fact that Kentucky as more navigable water ways than any other state besides Alaska is a real plus. Lexington has three theater companies, two ballet companies, twelve art museums and this is in a city of only 300,000. Also, since I really enjoy horse racing, Kentucky is a perfect vacation spot (it is the racing that keeps bringing me back). As for the people, personally I have always found them to be some of the most friendly, outgoing, honest and downright sweet people I have ever met in the country and I travel alot. Because of the horse industry you have numerous upscale hotels and restaurants. It also helps that the women seem to be better looking on average than the rest of the country (with the possible exception of southern California, but most of them aren't real). For someone like me that enjoys women, fine art, good food, camping, bluegrass music, kayaking and luxury accomodations, Kentucky is about heaven on earth.

I love Kentucky. The scenery is beautiful and there are tons of things to do if you look for something that suits your interest. I also think the people are friendly (and I also think people in San Antonio are friendly, but won't comment on Dallas). I provided a few links for some things to do in and around Louisville.

People EVERYWHERE are not all impolite. If so many people from so many towns are being impolite that means it's you. No matter where are you there is always something to do. As long as there's at least one other person around with you. You can't find anything to do then you are a boring person. Anyway everyone has different experiences and views with all different towns in different states.

The natural scenery IS beautiful. However, the economic conditions are dismal. The families are very close and somewhat clannish. And the people MAY be suspicious of visitors, as they have been robbed of their land and other possessions by unscrupulous strangers. Therefore, they may seem impolite and standoffish.

Oh, man! I know some stuff about Kentucky, but only the Derby...still, I think it says So much. Hunter Thompson was from there and he love and hated it! Google his name and you'll get plenty of ammo and info., both positive and negative! At any rate, if you
have a certain sense of humor, you'll get a good laugh from it!
