He is very picky and likes music, movies and fashion but I am considering a good book for him to read.

Give him what you want from the heart! Here's a list if you need one!
1.Music cd, whatever music he's into
2. Concert tickets
3. Whatever movies he's into on dvd
4. Take him to the movies
5. Get him and outfit, something that's popular like Sean John, Rocawear, Shady, or a nice suit!
6. Cook him a good dinner (men love to eat)
There's about a thousand things to think of!

I didnt know African Americans in their late 20's really were any different than the standard late 20 something male.
If he likes music, get him a gift card to a music store. You could buy him some movies or tickets to a movie in a theater. Maybe a cool new hat, or a hoodie, new pair of Jordans, or a sports jersey. I bought a few of these things for my husband who is 27.
I wouldnt go with a book unless you are trying to change him or he doesnt like to read, which in case he wouldnt like the gift.

The book Letters to a Young Brother: MANifest Your Destiny by Hill Harper is a good read. Also I have a brother who is in that age category and he really is into watches.

If you go with the music or movies don't buy anything up to date. Instead go with a hard to find classic cd or movie. Fashion changes so fast and if he likes to be current that could be hard. I would go with something like a nice watch or maybe a hat.

There no different than a white male , my son is 22 and he likes the same things as his white friends, CD,movie tickets,clothes,shoes, games,food,the list goes on. I'm getting my son a ipod for Christmas..

Get him a gift card so that he can get music or movies. If you want to get him a book, then get him a book that would interest him. Maybe a good book about music, movies or fashion. Or maybe a good best seller or one that has won awards.

I don't see what his race has to do with it and as you can tell from two other users that have answered how they "feel" but back to the question and MY answer: get him a cd by one of his favorite artists or a movie that you know that he likes but doesn't have yet and know that he would like to have.

I wonder if he considers your race while he shops for you. I wonder if he'd still like you after he saw you ask that question. He's a human being, not a race!
