I have a Hunter ceiling fan that less than 6 months old, it came with the remote and all was fine until....one night I went to turn off the light on the remote and it didn't work! It still doesn't work...the only switches that work are the ones operating the fan. Any suggestions?

Just pull the string to turn off the light
:)
or
Call the store where you purchased it and see if they will swap you out a remote. Play on the fact that you always shop there and you've never had a problem.
If that fails get on the Hunter web site and write a complain letter. Don't ***** too much just state the fact that it is less than 6 months old, you have always relied on and trusted their products and you think the remote should have lasted longer and are very dissapointed. Chances are they will write back and take care of you.
I've had great sucess in taking my complaints directly to companies via their web site.

We have the same problem. I don't think the remote is defective, but rather some receiver in the fan.
