This is a harsh chemical and I am to mix it with Lysol or bleach and water. Is there anything else I could use instead? I had a fire damage in my home and I need to clean my walls and remove any smoke odor.

As a painter I have used Tri-Sodium Phosphate with bleach to clean moss and other unwanted things on houses. Trisodium phosphate has been used by painters for years and years as a heavy duty degreaser and all purpose cleaner. TSP is formulated for removing Grease, soot, and lead paint dust cleanup. A washing of surfaces prior to painting helps insure a good clean "bite" for the finish coats of paint.

If you have a simple pump-up garden sprayer here's what you do. Mix in a throw away container 1/2 half cup of it in hot water, 1/2 half gal. of bleach and some dish washing licquid. Mix it and spray it on, go on with the clean up. You'll be happy with what you're left with. Take care.

never mix bleach with other chemicals...it's highly toxic.
moreover, the TSP is only diluted with warm water, don't listen to anyone with other information.
as for the cleaning, its going to take a lot of cleaning and the TSP will do the job, but its not over there.
after cleaning EVERYTHING THOROUGHLY prime off the entire building and then a semi-gloss paint of choice.
if you get some spots that are to heavy or still with mildew, a can of spray silver over those spots 1st.
I had a fire once and the smell is overbearing and you must clean everything or throw it out.
check your A/C Heat ducting also, each time you turn it on, the smell will permeate the rooms etc.
good luck to ya

Do not mix it with lysol! just dilute it as to thedirections on the package and it should work fine. Your best bet is to hire professionals, though. your home insurance should pay for it.

If you use TSP, wear rubber gloves and eye protection along with a long sleeve shirt.

TSP is caustic and can damage your skin and eyes.
