I am going on 35 weeks pregnant. Last night I went to the bathroom and when i wiped I saw a clear stringy discharge, and it happened again this morning. Could this be part of my mucus plug?

Not to worry, if after checking out the website and reading this response you still are not sure about what to do, go see your doctor to make sure everything is okay with the baby and you.

All women have some vaginal discharge. Normal discharge may appear clear, cloudy white, and/or yellowish when dry on clothing. It may also contain white flecks and at times may be thin and stringy. Changes in normal discharge can occur for many reasons, including menstrual cycle, emotional stressors, nutritional status, pregnancy, usage of medications - including birth control pills, and sexual arousal.

hope this helps

I think you have absolutely nothing to worry about! It could be your mucus plug, however towards the last 2-3 months of my pregnancy I got that everytime I wiped. My midwife said it was normal and could also be a part of the plug. My sister was pregnant at the same time and experienced the same thing. Congratulations by the way!

I dont think so. The mucus plug usually has blood in it. That late in pregnancy, it is very common to have that kind of discharge. If you are still worried though, call your dr. Good luck.

A day or two before labor begins, the mucus plug that sealed off your uterus detaches from the cervix and passes through your vagina. This discharge is sometimes called "bloody show" because it's tinged with blood. Before labor begins or in the early stages of labor, your amniotic sac may rupture and you may feel fluid trickle or gush out of your vagina. If your "bag of waters" doesn't break on its own, your doctor may rupture it manually.

Very easily could be. The mucus plug will differ for each woman. Either way, at the weeks you are at, you are safe. Do let your doc know on your next visit, just to be thorough and keep him/her up to date on your progress. You're in the home stretch! Hang in there, that baby's ready to come home! Good luck! :)

I don't think so, your mucus plug will be thick, and probably accompanied by a little bloody show. Your just experiencing discharge.

This sounds gross, but it happened to me so, smell it, if it smells sweet its probably amniotic fluid. If you are leaking amniotic fluid you could risk getting an infection. So, call your doc and tell them what you are experiencing and they can do a test on a peice of paper (strip) to find out if its amniotic fluid and then go from there.
Good luck :)
