Haven't heard green tea of doing that even though it has alot of antioxidants. I have heard many good things about green tea so it is probably worth a shot. On the other hand, I have heard hot peppers are good for fighting off colds.

Green tea has lots of helpful things for you, but for colds you're already stuck with, I'd drink up on lots of peppermint (for coughs, fever, etc) and chamomile. Also, any teas that have Vitamin C, zinc, and/or echinacea.

As a preventative echinacea is the best, though.

Green tea doesn't fight off colds, per say. Colds are viruses, you can't kill them but you can treat the symptoms. Green tea does, however, comfort the throat.
