There would be anarchy followed by a dictatorship, probably Islamofascist. We would be the victims of more terror attacks.

The most notable effect is that it would embolden terrorists. They would view it as a win and it would confirm exactly what Osama Bin Laden said about America's will for the fight. Since they would no longer be forced to expend energy, men and resources in Iraq, the terrorists would be free to once again concentrate on attacking here in America. The secondary effect is that the situation would worsen in Iraq. The Saudis have stated that if we withdraw they will start actively supporting the Sunnis, with Iran supporting Shiites this would cause a full scale civil war. It could also have the effect of pitting regional powers against each other in a larger war in the Middle East. In the end we would be forced to return to the Middle East in a military role and the next time around would be much worse than what it is today.

Pulling out of Iraq would likely end very badly for the Sunni's and the Kurds. The Shi'ite Iranians would supply their fellow Shi'ites in Iraq with weapons and probably begin sending troops in to help wipe out any resistance. Shortly after consolidating power there, we would have a Shi'ite coalition stretching from Damascus to Tehran looking to take out Israel. In all likelihood, before that, they would see to destabilizing Jordan since it shares a long border with Israel and is currently at peace with them.

The US could probably look forward to more terrorist attacks like 9/11 that are sanctioned by Tehran but not always necessarily directed from there. Withdrawal from Iraq without a permanent solution will be another signal of Western weakness. It would embolden those already chaffing to hit the US and turn a number of fence sitters against us as well.

It would be seen, in the eyes of Middle-Easterners, as a loss. They would celebrate and believe that they can not be defeated, this would become the perfect propaganda machine for the terrorist orginazations to recruit. Then in a few more years we will be back over- but to mulitple Mid-East places.

~I agree with Tasha.. We would have our friends and relatives home and we would not have to worry about getting into the civil war that is happening!
The Middle East would finally be happy that we took our foot out of their arses, and they, (terrorists) could fight among themselves, (terrorists), and terrorize themselves to death.~
