What is going to happen is you will most likely develop diarrhea, possibly severe and maybe accompanied by nausea and vomiting. There is no proven connection between using castor oil and labor starting and few doctors or midwives recommend it. Those who do use it reserve it for pregnant women who are at 40 weeks or past due and usually give only 2 ounces. You may end up dehydrated if you have severe diarrhea which can lead to contractions starting and land you in the hospital. However, once you are re-hydrated, the contractions will probably stop. You are not overdue, so let your body and your baby decide naturally when the time is right to go into labor. There is no need to rush it along no matter how much you want your baby to come.

Primrose oil and raspberry tea are sometimes recommended, but not to trigger
contractions. Instead, Flynn often suggests both of these supplements to
patients to help soften the cervix, theoretically making labor easier once
it starts.
There have been few significant studies as to whether intercourse can stimulate
labor. Midwives and physicians alike theorize that sex may induce or speed along
labor for a variety of reasons. First, Dr. Flynn explains that semen contains
prostaglandins, which help prepare the cervix for labor. Second, "the hormone
oxytocin, known to be important for the onset of labor, is stimulated in
response to nipple stimulation and orgasm," says Dr. Camann.
"It's common wisdom," says Dr. Flynn, "and plenty of pregnant women can attest
that if a pregnant women is already dilated to two or three centimeters, she can
go home and have intercourse enough times to get labor started."

You're probably going to end up with a good case of the runs. In fact it's almost probable. The baby won't be induced with castor oil. Castor enters your mouth and then your digestive tract. It does nothing for inducing labor. You'd be better off having intercourse and walking ALOT. Those are my suggestions. Baby will come when baby is ready. Good luck.

I've been pregnant two times and with my second, we even went four-wheeling in our tacoma down an old creek bed to try and get labor going--I still had to be induced. When it's time for the baby to come, it will happen. And please...I know you're tired of being pregnant, but try to enjoy every last minute of it. It goes so fast and some people even miss it (like me).

Castor oil is a natural laxative. It will clear out your bowels, may give you an upset stomach or cause your baby to pass meconium inutero but won't necessarily help you go into labor.

to induce labor, my midwife "stirred the membranes" and sent me home. She told me to get "intimate" with my husband to start things off. But she felt I was ready, and we wanted to get the baby out before she got too big (this was with my second child).
Only do things to induce labor after talking to your doctor.

It worked for me, but I think I was pretty much ready to go. I had diarrhea, then the contractions came shortly after that. I was a week early from my due date. My baby was 10 lbs even.. I was glad I didn't wait. Good Luck :)

Hah. No, but I ate spicy foods, walked for hours, bounced on an exercise ball, and finally had sex to start labor--and the last one worked!

My friend did this and got sick. She DID NOT go into labor. I know you are miserable but the baby will come when it is ready! Be patient!
