I guess I would choose one with more ide channels and a couple extra pci slots. Are there any specialty motherboards for technicians?

I am a technician, and I have to say, not really. There are some that we recommend over others, but we base it off what the customer wants in the machine, and what is available. I really base the board off of these specs.

I also do tech work and there are tech stations you can buy so that you have access to everthng in a system. I would just buy two cheap motherboards to work on, one the is amd based and one the is intel. Also one that is sata and one that is ide.
