I usually lick them, but after reading some of the answers to this question I think I am going to tuck wherever possible from now on

Always lick, because there may be cockroach eggs stuck to the glue and I believe they can be made into pets when they hatch out in the mouth! Very nutritious!
Licking makes the tongue stronger and can help save water: my cat does alot and my ex. did a bit. Stay on form, lick your envelopes.

lick and then cringe after doing it because of the taste. Its why for general envelopes I buy self seal ones :)

I lick, to prevent the envelope being easily opened by those other than for whom it was intended.

Etiquette suggests you moisten shut (not necessarily lick) envelopes if they are being mailed, but only tuck if you are delivering personally.

I used to lick until I read this email about coackroach eggs that stay in the gum of envelopes and a girl had a baby cockroach hatch in her tongue.
