Actually, computers are getting more and more powerful and the software is not expanding at the same pace. People seem to be keeping their computers for longer now. Also if you get your computer from Dell or some other places, you can send them your old computer free of charge and they will recycle it.
You will shortly see people getting fined for putting computers into the trash rather than recycling them.

Seems like. Very aggravating to update everything, bad for the earth garbage wise, expensive...They really need to work on this. I mean, a car will last decades.
You can always donate your old one to a school, but eventually they will upgrade too.
Even as I type this on my computer - I'm thinking that these little boxes of lights are only complicating things further. They need to slow down the development for a bit..like ipods - do they really need to keep inventing progressively smaller ones? Give us a rest would ya!
Thanks for letting me vent!

There are shops, and should be one near you. that you can take your computer to so that it can be disposed and recycled which these scrap parts are used to make new more up to date computers... you get shafted in this situation as you dont make any money off of it. But if you care about the earth and wanna recycle yes you can and are supposed to recycle computers not just throw them in the trash.

Probably, people do that because they think the need to get a new one...because of the commericals that advertise all the new features, and software keep getting bigger and computers need more ram, and most people think they just need to buy a new computer when they just need to upgrade a certain part of their computer..ive had the same one for 6 years and it does fine...

When my last comp was shot, I could not afford another, Bought the pieces and my husband put it all together. Same monitor, same keyboard same box. He put a new motherboard, whatever that is, more space and whatnot.
Get someone to build it, it's cheaper and you do not have to throw out good stuff that still works.

Extremly bad but people at the store don't tell you that. We just need to become better educated as to what is happening when you get rid of electronic devices.
