Actually, I remember reading that a man sent out the forwarded email message saying that people swallow 8 spiders in their lifetime while sleeping, and he only sent it because he wanted to show how gullible everyone was, and that people believe anything they get in an email. I guess he was right.

Well, I don't know for sure, but I know I woke up early one morning with a strange prickling on the inside of my mouth. I woke up in a panic, spat and turned on the light and it was a spider. And it was a largish spider.

So, yes, I believe you can swallow bugs while you're asleep.
