Wasn't the planet supposed to be under ice by now?
Accorind to the same scientists that are now
raving and ranting about global warming?

Why should we believe them now?

Yeah, I remember hearing that about 20 years ago.

I've come to the conclusion that people are either trying to turn a buck or get some political power by scaring us. Too bad it works so well.

Granted, if the earth IS warming up, is it natural or man made? If it is natural, we are screwed...we'll all have to deal with it. If it is man made, good luck getting other countries like China to get on the bandwagon.

Bottom line, global warming gets press. We all buy or watch that press. Press makes money. 10 years it'll be something else. Remember Y2K?? WTF ever happened there??

It didn't happen. Have you seen The Greening of Planet Earth? It's a video with a different perspective on global warming.

You are misinformed. The global cooling part of the cycle ended with the end of the last ice age. We have been in global warming ever since. No legitimate meteorologist or climatologist would claim otherwise. Check this out:

"Global cooling in general can refer to a cooling of the earth; more specifically, it is a theory positing an overall cooling of the Earth and perhaps the commencement of glaciation. This theory gained temporary popular attention due to press reporting following a better understanding of ice age cycles and a temporary downward trend of temperatures from the 1940s to the early 1970s. The theory never had strong scientific support. At present, the Earth is not cooling, but rather is in a period of global warming mostly attributed to human activity." [See source.]

When Wiki says, "At present, the Earth is not cooling, but rather is in a period of global warming mostly attributed to human activity," it is not entirely correct. Global warming, per se, is not "mostly attributed to human activity;" in fact, global warming is a natural phenomenon that has been ongoing in cycles for hundreds of thousand of years on Earth.

But what CAN be attributed to human activity for this specific warming cycle is the significantly increased rate of onset and the "off the charts" degree of warming this cycle is expected to reach. Since the advent of life on Earth, the warming cycle has never come on so fast and it will reach temperatures never before reached. And that is because of the pollutants we are filling the air with. [See source.]

Because humans have interfered in the natural processes. We aren't responsible for global warming, but we are responsible for delaying the onset of the next ice age.

Don't worry. Mother Nature will cool this planet eventually. Not before humans are extinct, but that will be a good thing. For the universe, anyway.
