You could attend church services.
You could go visit elderly people at nursing homes. I'm sure they would love that, especially the ones with no family close or no family to visit at all. Make their day special. They may not have any Christmas's left. And you could make this special.
Visit an orphanage. Same thing as the old folks home.
Help out at a shelter. Make the homeless feel special that day.
Hope this helps. And I hope you have a wonderful Christmas to remember yourself. Merry Christmas!

I wouldn't mind someone visiting me or the holidays but I am still unsure what my plans will be for Christmas so I can't really extend a definite invite to anyone just yet. I may see my dad or my mom this year.. witch would rule out bringing a friend I just met but if I had to stay home then I'd possibly make some extra invites to whatever the housemates had planned to do this year happen.

Well, if you can't visit the family or friends, find a local church / parish that will have Christmas Eve / Day festivities. You can be a part of it. They are always looking for people to contribute time and act roles in parties and functions. There are also many other organizations that hold parties, etc and you can contact them to be a part of it. Also many local bars, pubs and restaurants have Christmas day parties! Check them out.
You have a very Merry Christmas!!!

Volunteer at a homeless shelter or food bank. Not only will you be around people but will be very grateful for all the good things that you have in your life by helping out the less fortunate. You will find all kinds of people there from young children with smiles on their faces to young homeless people and older folks who either have chosen or due to unfortunate circumstances in their lives are in need of a handout from their community. I would be willing to bet that it would be one of your greatest Christmas' and that at the end of the day you will know the true meaning of this day. Best of luck to you and have a Merry Christmas.

If you live in New York it will be very easy to find a lot of ways to spend your time. I do not know where you currently liven... but you could volunteer your time in any soup kitchen or any charity functions. Trust me, you will feel good about it. Some local churches need extra helping hand. This way you will meet new friends that also have a good heart like you!
Have a Happy Holidays!

this year christmas eve is on a sunday so you could go to service and a candle light service at night, there will be a lot of peopel there. I bet there is a soup kitchen in your town or somewhere around wher you could help at, they serve food to people who are homeless or have no family.
