On the Petoria episode they actually asked this question, but they never gave an answer. Sometimes the characters act like they know what's going on and sometimes they don't, so I'm just wondering. Thanks for your responses.

I think that Brian, the dog is the only one that understands him all of the time. The other characters only seem to respond to him when he is also using gestures to indicate what he's talking about. :o)

I've wondered the same thing. Stewie is like the funniest animated character ever created...LOL
My guess is yes they understand Stewie, hell they understand Brian (a talking dog).

Only Brian the dog understands Stewie..eveyone else hears fussing or baby talk. It's a very clever ploy in the plot.
Well maybe other babies understand also. When he & his "brother to be" had a shoot out it seemed they understood each other.

the only one that understands him and converses with him is brian..although at times it seems like lois answers him but not always makes sense...LOVE this show!
