Lost, Battlestar Galactic, 24, Frasier.... etc etc the list goes on... original, ground breaking telly that goes on for ever. Yet when some one has to write a two hour movie all creativity goes out of the window. Now why is that?

Not movies of American TV shows, they tend to be awful. My point is that on the whole TV in the States seems to be more creative than their movies in the cinema.

Because Hollywood (the movies) has gotten lazy and incredibly uncreative, and has begun to rely on remake after remake, sequel after sequel. 'Rocky' at 60????

But, really, who is to blame? Hollywood for cranking out that crap, or us for consuming it? There is a rule in Hollywood : you make sequels until they stop making money. Obviously, there is a market for these films, else they would stop making them.

All the creativity has gravitated towards the small screen, and thankfully so. Reality TV is dying an ugly death, and scripted TV is back. It seems that serials is the current trend, and as a BSG and Heroes fan, I say, more power to 'em.

i feel its the other way around , i like the films (not all of course), but their TV is awful ( except the best TV programme ever The Simpsons, Band Of Brothers and MASH)

I cant stand the comedy's like Frasier ,Friends (truly bollox ) Roseanne, Cheers , Will and Grace ,
these don't come close to Fawlty Towers, Porridge, Only Fools, Open all hours ,Dads Army,Rising Damp, Steptoe ,Phoenix Nights,Father Ted. Blackadder, Young Ones.

I used to like their old stuff like The Adams Family, The Munsters, Sgt Bilco , Laurel & Hardy but besides the Simpsons american tv sadly cant make me laugh anymore , but the films can make me laugh my **** off , Dumb & Dumber springs to mind.

Clearly you've never seen the following:

Gone With The Wind
The Wizard Of Oz
The Last of the Mohicans
Dances With Wolves
Gladiator
any Hitchock film

Not sure where you get your info. By the way...your "Harry Potter" was directed by an American.

CYNDY KNOWS HERE: Low budget movies, awful most of the time. Screamers, girl flicks...no imagination, just made to pay the bills. Stick with Dreamworks films, Speilbergs, etc. for the best in films. Do not listen to critics.

television is no better than the movies anymore. everyone's out for a quick buck. Have you watched any movies made before 1990? They're mostly all good. America went Hollywood, and Hollywood went to hell.

Surely You are not saying that the recent Hollywood remakes such as The Beverley Hillbillies, Sgt Bilko & Starsky and Hutch, to name but a few, are anything other than wonderful?
