8 tracks are worth barely anything. You can find them at any second hand or thrift store for dirt cheap, both the tapes and the players. Take a look on eBay and see what others are selling for.

Lol! Interesting question. Is it junk or is it worth something? An antique has to be 100 years old and is collectible due to rarity, condition, utility, or some other unique feature. A collectible is is typically a manufactured item designed for people to collect. Vintage is a term for items hailing from another era. Generally speaking, items older than 25 years are considered to be vintage. The collectibility of the items depends on whether they are particularly representative of the era in which they were made. Eight track tapes definitely fall into the vintage class, so you may see some small amount of interest starting in these things. A lot of 'em are probably still worthless, but you get some of the big names, The Beatles, The Who, The Sex Pistols, The Doors, The Grateful Dead or other rare tapes, I'm betting you could be looking at maybe $25 a tape. A quadraphonic copy of a Pink Floyd album recently fetched $800 on e-bay. So, I think the interest, and subsequent value, is just starting, but, the problem with putting values on eight track tapes is the lack of the tape players. So, keep your collection together. You split up the player from the tapes, they become pretty much valueless.
