This was a council house so it is obvious that the council don't check before someone moves in, someone said they will get a slap on the wrist if found guilty unfortunately this is all they will probably get it should be prison for them

this is a terrible tragedy , yes your right someone aint done their job properly ,them sob' s charge mega for council tax and provide a crap service .the way I see it the head of the council should resign over this and those responsible charged with corperate manslaughter . My heartfelt sympathy is with the parents at this time.

It's terrible! It shows that safety in the home is paramount! And it certainly makes you think! It's a tragedy, yes! You are quite right to point out that someone somewhere has not done there relevent checks! You point out a very good fact! i remember when i moved into council accomodation! most of the general repairs where started only when i'd moved in and pointed them out! I never even thought abou inspecting the loft! but then again the council never did either! Also it is quite unusual for a combi boiler to be in the loft! it would usually be in the wall in an emersian cupboard. The cold water septic tank is usually in the loft!

i'd say it was quite obvious where the finger of blame should be pointed at!

I wonder how many of my friends have ever had there loft checked? And I wonder how many of these houses have heated water in there lofts?

I think also that the whole of that particular mothers estate should be checked for heated tanks in the loft! That is a crazy place to put a combi boiler!

I agree this is a tragic death of an poor little innocent baby. There should be checks done to make sure that the property is up to a good standard. Im not sure if they should be done for murder but I certainly think that it should be thoroughly investigated. However is there is any negligence i'm certain that the council would cover the whole thing up anyway.
My thoughts are with the parents of the little girl and I wish them all the very best, I know that this doesn't make up for them losing their daughter but I just thought that I would say it anyway.

Yes the council should be held responsible! Councils should also check for Gas, Carbon Monoxide and any other unsafe structures. Just vecause you live in a Council Property does not make you any less a person with fundemental rights to SAFE housing!

some one is fibbing here ...1st no water boilers are in the loft, specially council property..no way now how..,
it could be a Emerson heater like the one i have in my loft
if this is the case ..
1st ..it will not reach to a boiling point ..the thermostat is max 80c well under boiling point..there are normally set at 65c .....
2nd if it burst it would leak and not pore out in huge quantities....
3rd the water will spread in the floor of the ceiling
and would cool down
4th there would have to be a big hole on the ceiling for the water to come down at ..
5th baby's cot would have to be right under the hole of the ceiling...
6th did the baby have no clothing on to reduce the burns ...
7 YOU ARE LYING.....it is all...LIES
or you misunderstood everything

There is a chance that the person responsible for maintence of the house could be charged for a form of manslaughter, or civil proceedings brought against them

I have followed this tragic story with my kind of prayers. One of the problems in our society is a severe housing shortage, and this puts councils on extreme pressure to house/re-house asap, and in this case it was a rushed job.

To charge someone with murder you have to prove intent, they did not intend to kill the child so manslaughter would be the only option. In this case its unlikely that even this would stick because of the age of the child.

This does not detract from the seriousness of the event.

Certainly it should be investigated. But the fact is, sometimes freak accidents like this happen and no one is to blame. After an investigation is done, then they will see if someone didn't do their job.

I don't think anyone does not feel sadened by the death of a child like that. But sometimes accidents happen, and trying to blame it on someone for not predicting a pipe would burst will not help.
