Murphy's Law is pretty much this: Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong if you give it the chance.
There's a lot of variations on it, but... I find it to be pretty true in some situations. Argh!

Murphy's law is built on Irony..For example...
You wait all day for your friend to call you for a lunch date.. you wait as long as you can and then leave. AS SOON AS you walk out the door, your friend calls you.. that's Murphy's law.
