My guess is he winds up with the Padres, who were looking at trading for him, but would love it if the Mets picked him up at the right price ($5 mil or so). Valentin had a good middle of the year, but was invisible in Sept and Oct, and had a horrid 2005 (under .200). Another year older isn't going to help matters much.

I guess it depends on whether 2006 was just an aberration for Giles, or a sign of things to come. His average and power both slipped considerably from the previous three seasons, and his strikeout rate remained high.
Valentin is 37, so a younger signee would be a good idea, but I wouldn't give Giles a big contract until he's proven that last year was just a prolonged slump.

I think that Mr. Manier should do everything to get Marcus Giles he hit 320 last year, and we can give David Wright better protection . He lead off last year for Atlanta,l but I think it' better If he hits behind David Wright.

I think he's better than Valentine. And he's a great team/community player. He'll probably wind up in San Diego though. Todd Walker is not the answer.

I'm not too crazy about it. I think it's better for the Mets to spend money on some serious pitchers.

He is a riot in the dugout.
He should be healthy next year and he is very fast on his feet.

its wonderful to dream, but they need pitching and the money they would spend on this guy would eat that up, so i dont see it happening unless they trade valentine and another salary and make it fit....but i dont see it happening

well first of all isn't marcus giles an outfielder and he would have to learn a new position but his bat is pretty good but anyway the player i want the most for the mets and we need the most right now more then anybody is barry zito due to the fact that our pitching staff is sort of an unknown in alot of ways
