My mom,
She would always tell me about her school days, how cruel everyone was to her, and how she developed as an adolecant. To help me with my trials and tribulations. I saw her go through an exess amount of pain, overworked under-apperciated housewife, is a huge understatement. She had a job that was baisically 24/7
Cleaned the house, and cooked dinner, And she was the one who handled all the school functions, and conferances. Picking up me and my brother at school when we were sick.
While my dad served in the military, we hardly saw him.
Then when my dad went to afghanistan when I was 16, my mom became MORE of a double parent.
She went through depression having my dad overseas. My brother going on a power trip. Me and my mom would lock ourselves in her room all night to excape my brothers criticism.
The for that last five years been dealing with my fathers affairs, going in and out of seperations. My father casting my mother out like yesterday's trash. blaming my mom for all their marital issues. and then turning around and telling her that he wants to make it work.
More mind games thatn a 13 year old girl.
and through all this she has shown nothing but love and compassion to all life, even the "other" woman. That is why my mom is influencial, but more inspiring.

I hope this will not sound too sentimental but I'd have to say my brother. I was 3 years old when he was born and he has Downs Syndrome. My parents (all though very educated) really didn't know anything about disabled people but both my sister and I are raised with a handicapped person.
When I was in my late teens I started working with disable people and I now have a very wide experience in the field. I have worked with mentally ill people, autistic people, handicapped adults and children, etc.
Now I am studying psychology and have decided to specialise in this particular field. If it hadn't been for my brother I probably would be doing something totally different..
Nice question by the way :)

The late deeply lamented Queen Mother. I met her at cheltenham for the first time in 1979. We met every subsequent year until I was struck down with a serious illness. I wrote her a letter apologising for my absence in 1999. I never expected she would reply or even recognise me. Yes she did. She was wonderful.

My middle school teacher/coach. He pushed me to my outer limits and taught me to look at my innerself when I just couldn't go anymore. A lesson I apply to everyday life.

it was my current boyfriend. he made me realise there was a big world out there and that i was part of it. he was my push behind going to university and he was the reason i stopped smoking dope all day, he's turned my life around just by being him. and pointing out i'm not a victim, i'm a survivor. and can do anything i want. and knowing i'll have the last laugh on all the twats that tried to pull me down makes me even happier.

although i have never had personal contact,I would have to say mrs thatcher.
She has taught me what it is to be british, strong willed, respectable, unbending in the face of adversity, honestclean living and to cherish the country that has cherished me and my family.
for this I will fight in any way I can to free our country from the blair destruction and tyranny.
I salute you mrs thatcher.
