As for intelligence:

I have seen studies that show that men (on average) have slightly higher IQs than women. And interestingly, men are more likely than women to inhabit the extremes of intellegence - being either geniuses or absolute morons. However, women have better memories than men.

It is important to realize that these are averages - it does not mean that all men are smarter than all women. There is just a slight trend in this direction - I think it is only about a 2 IQ point difference.

And I'm actally a female, not some egomaniacal guy bragging about my own intelligence. But I think we have to admit that the data is there....

And about wisdom:

Evolutionary pressures have favored males who engage in risky behavior - like fighting for a mate, defending a territory, and other impulsive things like that. Females, on the other hand, have little to gain by such risky behaviors (evolutionarily). Therefore, they have evolved to become more peaceful and are risk-avoiders.

The average girl is only one point of IQ smarter than the average guy. The price for that is women are less varied in intelligence than men. There are more below and above average men than there are above and below average women. Stupidity is more consequential if you're making survival decisions for your offspring as well as yourself. Ruling out more dumb girls was apparantly worth the price of not having more smart girls.

I don't know about wiser, wisdom is learned and since most women seem to be taught to wallow in their emotions rather than learning to reign them in. I don't see a whole lot of wisdom among them.

I do see a lot of shortsighted decision making based on feelings and desires that contradict common sense appraisals of long term consequences. Most women seem to learn to think ahead only after that last big dumb (usually man shaped) mistake has drasticly complicated their lives. Then again some never really lear to let go of childish or sentimental ideas about how the world "is supposed to work."

You've met them, the girls who keep going back to the same misery well over and over again saying "it'll be different this time." There are plenty of guys who fit that particular bill too, but they have your excuse of being dumber and more unwise. Right? ;)

My opinions may be biased though, I'm not average or below average and the lack of truly intelligent women in my day to day experiences may be skewing my judgment. I don't think much of the average man either, if that helps soften the blow.

There are small but significant differences in girl vs boy SAT scores. Both average score and distribution.
See collegeboard.com which sometimes has data on that.

IQ tests: males better at "mental rotation";
females at "word fluency." (Well known among psychometricians.)

extremes:
top 100 chess players in world: only 1 is female.
(Computer rankings based on win loss records in tournaments.)

top 5 on the (very hard) annual Putnam competitive math exam:
only one female has ever placed in the top 5.
(Totally unbiased since graders do not know sex or name of
the test taker.)

These indicate there are huge differences
between males & females
in the extreme high-tail of the ability distribution.

There also are more males in the low-tail (morons).

Why these differences? Allow me to speculate.
Darwinian evolution. Males are more "expendable" than
females. Suppose something often caused 50% of
the males to die. That would not be so bad
for a mammalian species. If something often
caused 50% of the females to die, that'd be much worse
for the species' survival. Species A would outcompete
species B. So I conjecture that Nature has made it so
that males are the "experimental animals" of evolution.
Genes are turned on more strongly or something in males.
They have greater variability in almost every trait - both mental as
we saw and also physical (height, weight, frequency of birth defects, athletic speed). If you are going to do experiments to speed up evolution it is better to do them with males, you see. And that is the cause. So that is my conjecture.

This also explains why men die more often and live shorter lives than women. Because women are engineered to stay nearer to the well-proven average design. Males stray more from the
average and pay for it with shorter lives. As far as I can
see, males are unhealthier in every way than females EXCEPT
for issues related to the reproductive system.

It also explains why males are the ones involved much more in crime and fighting. (And in fighting in other mammal species too.)

[By the way, all these do not necessarily hold in non-mammal
animals. For example in fish, mals & females have
very few differences. Also, in insects, situation somewhat reversed; e.g. it is the females who do the fighting in
honeybees. Can you see why that is?]

This question cannot be answered scientifically in its present form.

We need definitions for

"smarter" (cognitive ability? how is it measured?)

"wiser" (propensity for making decisions with a positive outcome? how is it measured?)

"girls" (female humans? biologically female humans? anatomically female humans? female humans in age range x?)

"guys" (male humans? biologically male humans? anatomically male humans? male humans in age range x?)

THEN we would have to gather data (by what method? how is it measured? What is our sample size?) and make a big ole matrix with a bunch of variables to consider...

THEN we would have to have a bunch of other scientists test our methods and conclusions...

and BY THEN we would probably have run out of money and have to go to a private corporation to get funding, and

THEN all our results would be compromised because our sponsor has a specific agenda.

SO....

The (sad perhaps to you ) truth is that girls/women are no more or less smart than boys/men they just have more leeway in our society and it has become policy dujour to promote, advance and sku, most if not all things in our society in favor of the feminine among us.
