Do it yourself!!! Rent a Penske or Ryder. We did the same thing back in '99 and back to Cali in '05. Rented a big truck (don't don't don't use UHaul) use Penske or any other truck!

Our last UHaul broke down on us and it was a BIG mess. Uhaul wanted us to sit out there with the truck until the guy came (FOUR hours later) - if we left the truck, we were liable for any damage - even with insurance.

Anyway, the drive isn't so bad - either haul straight thru or stop for one night - we've done both, I recommend stopping. $40 for a hotel is worth the good nights sleep and not being so damn tired when you get there!

Man I envy you if you're headed to Tucson! So nice there! Especially this time of year! Email me if you have any questions, I've lived in Tucson and Phoenix, lots of fun stuff!

Oh yea, we got a crew of three guys for $150 to load our boxes onto the truck. You can do that on both sides, load on and load off, it's cheap and saves alot of muscle work!!!

Check craigslist for your area. Just make sure they have insurance.
U-haul would cost you way too much moving that far.
I used a local moving company I found on craigslist and saved more then half of what I was quoted everywhere else.

Do it yourself!

I've moved all over this country and not once did I ever waste my money or put my belongings at risk of being destroyed by a moving company!!!

My three longest moves were from FL to MO, from MO to OR and then back to MO from OR. From MO to OR I even moved my own HORSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

whichever one you pick, check with the better business bureau. There are a lot of shady moving firms that hold your stuff hostage until you come up with hundreds and hundreds more in moving charges. I'd pay for a good name, and forget trying to go cheap

I've used Starving Students, or 2 Men and a Truck. Give them a try.

Good luck,

I used ABF Frieght and just purchased a compartment in thier semi-wide truck. It was a lot less expensive than hiring movers. They will deliver and drop off the truck, you load it, and they will pick up and drive it to wherever you are going. It ended up saving me about $2000! You will need to have some friends to help you load and unload.

Good luck!
