My baby is almost 4 months old, she holds her head up well, the thrust reflex is gone, she tries to grab food off my plate and she chews on her bottle and pacifier all the time as if she is trying to eat. Is it ok to start feeding her solids? I don't have her doctors ok yet.she told me to wait.

I was recommended by my children's pediatrician to give rice cereal or oatmeal at 3mo. Just make sure it is a singe grain baby cereal so that the baby can digest it easier and if there was to be an allergic reaction you can rule out things much easier. You can put water or a water and formula mix in the cereal. I recommend putting a formula mixture in. It is more nutritious and tastes better to baby because it is a familiar taste. Also start out with the cereal being a thinner texture and working your way up to thicker. Baby cereal is very cheep and full of nutrients. Good luck!!! I just read your question again. If you are talking about regular grown up food, I would say no way. Does the baby even have any teeth yet? I would wait.

Also you can try the rice cereal and mix some baby apple sauce in it too. My son started on the cereal at 2 months and he's now almost 21 and is just fine. Like the other reply said dr's are great but not all babies are the same so you sometimes have to go with your gut feeling.

attempt blending it w/a fruit to provide it a touch style or upload to formula in her bottle. She'll be fantastic. She only gained't be waiting. you ought to attempt the glaring oatmeal really to the rice and word if she'll take that. so a ways because the teething..my daughter is 16 months and really has 4 enamel and is in the approach of reducing 2 more desirable. She placing out teething round 6 months although the first teeth did not fairly cut back by using the gum till round she became 11 months. each newborn is different so i'd not hassle yet you could communicate it w/your pediatrician.

Same position as you!! My little girl is 3 1/2 months old and doing the same things so I started her on rice cereal from a spoon about a week ago and she is doing great on it! I just give her a little bit after a bottle in the evenings. Good luck :)

You're missing a few key notes on your "ready for solids" check list:
-ability to sit unassisted
-ability to grab food a put into his/her own mouth
Babies naturally are curious and want to be a part of everything we do. IMO~ your baby is just wanting to play and touch things at the table.
Try sitting her bundled in a highchair and give her a safe-plastic plate and spoon to chew on.
Babies digestive tracts aren't ready for any solids before 6months. You would be putting her at risk for allergies, constipation, irritability etc. And, assuming your breastfeeding, you may hinder your milk supply by replacing nursings with solids.
Trust me, there is NOTHING to gain by giving your baby solids before 6months.....enjoy the stage your baby is at and don't feel rushed.

Start her on the stage 1 baby foods. Just make sure to give her the same one for a few days to rule out any allergies she may have to it. Drs. don't always know best because all babies are different. Good luck!!

If your doctor said wait, I think you should probably wait. Did you tell your doctor that your baby has been exhibiting all these signs of being ready for baby solids? If you tell your pediatrician that, and he/she still suggests waiting, then you should definitely wait.

there is nothing wrong with starting baby food now. I was feeding my son baby food at 3 months. Food from your plate though is different and you should wait till about 7 months.

Sure try giving her some baby food. Doctors are great, but they don't live with you 24/7 and see how you child is doing.

It would be fine if you start her out on some rice cereal at that age. Of course, you and her doc know best.
