send her on a hunt for the gift around the house with small wrapped packages with clues to the next package.
A Christmas treasure hunt so to speak.

Wrap up a chicken (a rubber chicken will do) then place the roaster in another part of the house. Include a note with the chicken telling her where to look and suggesting this goes with it. Alternatively, leave a note with chicken with the start of a treasure hunt and make her go all over the house so you have time to get the roaster out and put it in the kitchen when she's not looking).

First, give her something small that goes with the gift. Like an oven mitt, Cornish hen or something. Be patient and play the role. Act as if you had no idea on what to get her. Place the roaster in the fridge with a bow or whatever and have someone else send her to get something to drink. Have the video recorder ready, because it may be funny.

Drop a *little* gift under the tree. Then wait till she's unaware of the kitchen space and sneak the big gift onto the counter... preferrably unwrapped. The little gift should be something small, like a candy and with a note inside saying something like "there's more to this in the kitchen". She'll probably relate to the candy for a short laps of time, time enough to be surprised with the bigger one on the counter top when she runs into the kitchen.

Wrap up a picture of the roaster oven in a small box with a note saying the roaster oven is in the garage (or wherever you can have it hidden at). Good Luck!!!

Sure have the gift hidden somewhere in the house close. And give her under the tree some small trinket. After she opens the trinket gift. Then surprise her with the roaster. God bless****

What I used to do with my wife was have a small box and have her open it. Inside would be a poem or limeric pointing her to the next box or place where the next box is. Make her find that one, and so on. I'd have her all over the house! Inside each box I'd also place a small 'token' gift, she would like but would not be anywhere near a hint of what the real deal is in the last box. It's fun and she'll love you for it!

I was at my uncle's house for Christmas and all he wanted that year was an air compressor. That was all he talked about. He had one and someone stole it. So my aunt got one and took the picture out of a store ad and put it in a card. She gave him the card and said "here is your IOU". The store was sold out. (The whole time he is being taped. He was so sad, almost tearing up.) She said but I got a package from UPS today (Chirstmas Eve) and it's in the garage. Bet it is your air compressor. He jumped jumped up like a kid and tore through the house. Once he got to the garage, nothing, but the door to the garage was opened slightly. There was an empty box, an air compressor box, but no compressor. And two sets of tracks leaving the drive. (He thought it was stolen, again. So he was on the phone with the cops, which, were in on the this one, they sent over a car to check it out.) My aunt got him inside, he was screaming outside how unfair it was. Then the cops came over and asked him to go to the garage and show them. He went out there and there was the box, unopened, the door closed. He opened the box and there it was. It was so funny, everyone laughed at him. We sure got him that time. I have never laughed so hard. The cops were nice to. They played like, did you forget your meds or something. (The other compressor was never stolen, his wife trashed it after their daughter backed into and tore it up).

I would take it out of the box. That would take some of the bulk away. Also if there are pieces you can remove, wrap those seperate with a note saying were the rest of the gift is.
have fun!
